Sunday, February 14, 2016

We are still trying to get used to having the Sabbath on Saturday and Sunday being an ordinary day. This was our 3rd Sunday in Israel, so once again we headed to the carillon at the YMCA. Only 4 students went this time so that gave everyone plenty of time to play.
The lobby inside the hotel is really beautiful.
Kathy and some of the students enjoyed the view from the top of the tower.

The staircase from the ground to the level from where we play is 145 steps up. (Photo is looking down)
After we rang in the hour at noon, we raced back to the Jerusalem Center and met the Heiner's for pizza in the Old City for a valentine treat.
It's always fun to go to the Old City and shop for special things. A shop keeper is showing Garth authentic widow mites and Chris shopped for a necklace. Kathy bought an embroidered pillow cover. We saw a tour group of men in military uniforms. Notice the large guns each had strapped to their bodies and their hands were always very close to the trigger. Man and women are expected to join the military in Israel at the age of 18. Men serve for 3 years and women for two.
Time was flying and we had to hurry back to the Jerusalem Center to prepare for the Sunday evening concert.
