Sunday at the Carillon - YMCA

Because we celebrated the Sabbath on Saturday, it seemed strange to have Sunday as an ordinary day. We wake up each day wondering, "What will today bring?" Sunday we met students at the YMCA outside the Old City. The carillons are located in the top of a tower and the music couple is responsible to see that the bells are rung from 11 AM to 12 noon every Sunday. We had envisioned a very old building but were pleasantly surprised to find it had been made into a beautiful hotel with a restaurant. A narrow stairway leads up 6 flights to the room where the keyboards are located. There are two keyboards. One keyboard is for practice and not connected to the bells in the tower. The larger of the two keyboards broadcasts the bells outside. Garth decided to climb up to where the bells were located where he found bells of many sizes. It was a very interesting experience.
